SRI PADMANABHA SWAMY  TEMPLE

KERALA, INDIA

Situated at Thiruvananthapuram, the capital city of Kerala

It is believed that Padmanabha swamy temple had come into existence on the first day of the era ' Kaliyuga'. That is 28 / 12/ 3101 BC.

The themple is renuated at 908 AD by King Marthanda Varma

The Thiruvanatapuram city is formed around the temple, as we can see in almost all ancient temples throughout India.

The temple is situated west of PADMATHIRTHAM , the pond and having the main entrance ( dersan) towards east.

The height and area surmounting the Gopurams  are the highest and largest among the temples of Kerala

The deity here is as the name imply  SRI PADMANABHA , who is none other than LOAD VISHNU. Deity is reclining on sarpent ' Anantha'. The dersana is through three doors. face through south, the navel through the middle and the feet through the north doors

The deity is made with 12000 salagramam picked from River Gandhaki . The deity is covered with gold and having valuable and rare precious stones on it


Two festivals are held annualy


This temple is known in India among the 108 temples of Load vishnu.
